how to draw face like i do

this will be a simple and fast way to draw the face shape and feature like the eyes placement, or other small tips

like the title say it's to draw face like i do and there is more way to do it, you can even make your own step by step tuto but this is just the way i do it and not the only way to draw a face

step 1: head shape

first like draw a circle, it's the base shape for almost any head shape you can make. once done draw a line, it can be a curved line for perspective but since we want this easier it will just be a line, it has to be in the middle of the circle.

coming from there you will do two sligthly curved line from the circle point until the end of the circle, you can make this a straight line, but if you curve it the face look more natural.

once this step is made, you can draw a point in the middle of the face, by moving this point up and down you can change the jaw size and shape, this make light variation that matter a lot when you continiue the face, after that you make two more curved line to assemble them.

step 2 : facial feature

when the face shape is done you can add feature such as the eyes, nose or mouth, the first thing to do in order to draw eyes is simple, you draw a rectangle where the eyes should be, in general it's just between the nose and the hair line, i usualy don't make this step because i make this in my head, but visualising it make this step way more easier.

i won't talk about the eyes, the nose or the shape of the mouth to not go in detail, but to make it short every thing has to feel symetrical, i added the hair from the top of head and added some space between the head and the hair themselfe, so it look better.

the next step is to clean the sketch, erase with a soft eraser all the line you don't wanna see, lke the circle, the line of the head covered by the hair, of the various construction line.

step 3 : final line

after all of this, the most relaxing thing to is just trace over the line you still have, this time make clean and smooth line, don't go multiple time over one place, and when you don't like the line you make erase it and restart. for everyone working with software, just press ctrl+z and you will erase the last line done. don't hesitate erasing a line, to make a good head shape i can erase about 20 to 50 time in a simple drawing like that.
