why there is no rule in art

for starting, there is rule. but they are more like advice than anything and art school doesn't want you to know but anybody can become an artist without following what they tell you.

the first thing to know is that there is no right or wrong way of doing something, but there is differences : if you work with electronic device and software like i do from time to time then you understand the difference, it's just whole different tool than a pencil or a brush.

the pieces of advice you tell to one, doesn't apply allways to the other.

after that there is allways one guy to tell you "you should do this like that" or "you're doing it wrong". they can be in the true but only if you agree. the only piece of advice you should take is the one you want. i won't draw something i dislike so why should you draw it the way you don't like ? follow the advice and practice like you feel, you can't be the best artist every day but true masterpiece is the one you enjoy making and looking when you are done

in other word be proud of what you do and don't let the hater go in your confort zone.

another topic is copying art... attention i'm not telling you to copy but to take inspration from what you like. a good way to do it is just to scroll through twitter and casualy look at art, upload what you like and when you feel low in idea go take a look into what you downloaded.

i do this often and have plenty of image and drawing from other artist that i like.

you don't need to do the exact same drawing, but you can mimic the line art, the shape, the coloring or even the pose of the charachter you chose.

copying is good to progress but keep in mind that if your drawing look to much like another artist you can make a lot of drama for nothing... just don't forget to tell from were you took the original drawing from, and if you can't remeber or find it just tell the true and nothing bad happen.
